Yesterday, I responded to Wayne Sutton's twitxr photo of a Raleigh hot dog stand with one of my own, writing that Carrboro's hot dog vendor, Squeaky, is better than his. That exchange gave me an idea for a grand way to celebrate the pleasures of small places, the "C" City Challenge.
It's also a way to honor the beta premiere of this enjoyable new resource, MyNC, and to let me share in it, despite my jealousy that WNCN chose Clayton first. So, Clayton is now in the lead because you already have so many interesting images and stories here. I'll be posting mine from Carrboro at the blog http://justbeincarrboro.org, and I'm encouraging my neighbors to join in the fun. You folks in Clayton post a pic, video, or story, and we'll try to top it!

Well, it rained today, so I didn’t get out like I wanted to, but I did take a snapshot of our sushi dinner. Where can I find good sushi or Japanese cuisine in Clayton?

Okay, Clayton, here is a challenge to your Coffee Mill cafe (I enjoyed that article, btw). How many outlets does the Coffee Mill have for folks who work from cafes? I’m going to count the ones at Open Eye Cafe where I usually work in Carrboro.

No takers, yet? Well, I’m going to keep at it. Open Eye Cafe has 14 outlets in their main room available to customers who work from the cafe, as I do. I’ve posted a tour of the cafe at http://justbeincarrboro.org/ and encourage you to add video or pics of your own favorite mobile work spaces in Clayton (in case visitors need to “plug in").

I have a few favorite spots when working in Clayton… Skyline Cafe on 70, Clevand Bakery on 70 and, of course, The Coffee Mill… as far as the number of outlets there are… I’m not sure but there are always several available! I’ll have to count next time I have to plug in Clayton!

I’m starting to think Clayton people aren’t as much fun as I expected (since few are directly participating in this challenge), but I had fun people watching today in Carrboro. What are the best spots for people watching in Clayton?

Oh, I forgot to tell you I met Megan’s delightful photo from Creation Station with one showing some of our young artists’ work displayed at the Carrboro Century Center. That photo and one from today’s people-watching session are available at the “related link” listed under the original story post.

I’m closing this challenge (at least my participation in it). I was trying to be supportive of Clayton and mync’s beta; however, as mync hasn’t recognized Carrboro as an independent municipality, I’ve begun to doubt its value to our community. I’m glad to see more Clayton participation, and I send you all best wishes.

http://carrboro.mync.com/ was just launched this past Friday.

Yes, but if you look closely, it contains articles on Chapel Hill.
